PISTOL: COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
BASIC PISTOL/HANDGUN: This class is an entry-level course for handgun shooters and is designed specifically for those who have not had any formal instruction. You will first start with the basic operations of your pistol, how to safety operate, load, unload, and store your weapon. We will cover the following: safety, stance, grip, sight alignment, and sight picture, trigger control, and follow-through. In addition we will cover dry-fire drills and live-fire drills on the range. The class runs approximately 1 hour, which includes classroom lecture, dry-fire drills and range live-fire.
PISTOL CLOSE QUARTERS DEFENSIVE SHOOTING I: Introductory level course into Close Quarters Defensive Shooting. This course is designed for the person who has a basic understanding of the workings of your weapon. You do not need to train up or be an expert shot; the only thing we require is that you understand how to put your weapon in action. This shooting system was designed by ATHENA from years of real-world combat shooting. This not a marksmanship course. We believe that consistency is the key to good shooting; to get there, repetition in good, solid fundamentals is required which is what we teach. The basis of this system is based on gross motor skills -- in a high-stress environment you will need to rely on your gross motor skills for survival. At the end of this course, we will give you efficient and realistic procedures that will work in any environment in which you might find yourself in real life. We do not teach you the right way to do it; we help you find that right way fundamental that works for your shooting style.
