HOME DEFENSE TRAINING COURSES: It is the middle of the night; you are woken to the sound of your home alarm going off, glass breaking, or the front door being kicked in. What do you do now? You are feeling cold, scared, your heart races, it is now over 175 beats per minute. You are in full fight-or-flight mode; you cannot think straight. The blood is leaving your head and all of your extremities -- your body does this to give you more strength to fight or run. This does not help you think though what you need to do. You start to think: Where are the kids? Will the home security company contact the police department right away? Will the police be there in the next few minutes or will they be a few minutes too late? Will the trespasser come up the stairs/down the hall -- or will he take what he can and run? Many of us have faced this very situation, or if you are luckier, you have thought about "what if?".
